Xinzhi Li (b. 2000, Hunan, China) is an emerging artist based in Melbourne, Australia.

Her practice is deeply rooted in lived experience and the creative reconstruction of childhood narratives. By positioning herself as a sensitive and fragile observer, Xinzhi explores the intricate dimensions of the ‘inner self’ through the interplay between mind and body, consciousness and the unconscious.

Working intuitively across oil and watercolour, she shares the agency of creation with the mediums themselves. She envisions her paintings as a ‘fragile skin’ where every mark emerges as a vital ‘organ’ of her being. Through subject matter that remains ‘luminous’ yet ‘ambiguous’, her work maps the boundaries of chaos—the intersection of thought, emotion, and energy. In this ‘moment between moments’, the act of painting becomes a meditative process of healing, allowing her to locate a sense of self within the relentless river of time.
